We are committed to training not only competent and compassionate physicians who care for our most vulnerable population but also educators for our students and residents. Approximately 30% of our graduates enter into subspecialty fellowships (~40% pursue careers in critical care). The remaining residents join primary care practices, become hospitalists, or work in global health. Almost 80% of our graduates choose to practice in California after residency. Furthermore, lifelong learning is a core skill for our physicians. Overall, ~ 50% continue to teach in academic medicine careers. In fact, alumni from our program account for approximately 30% of the residency program’s faculty.
