Ronald McDonald House

About Our House

When a child is stricken with illness, disease, or a life-threatening accident, the pain is felt by the entire family. Along with the hard realities of coping with a serious illness or injury is a devastating combination of fear, confusion and anger. Medical treatment is often far away from home, meaning both a financial and emotional strain upon the family.

The Ronald McDonald house, one of more than 200 worldwide, is a unique and thoughtful solution for families facing this situation. The 45,000 square-foot Inland Empire McDonald House has been designed to accommodate up to 54 families, providing each with a private bedroom and bath, plus shared kitchen, dining, living, game, TV, playroom, sanctuary, and laundry areas.

The house provides an oasis for families to renew their spirits, rest and unwind. This home-away-from-home is adjacent to the world-renowned Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and near many surrounding community hospitals.

How Our House Operates

The Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House is managed by a small staff working in concert with a core group of over 200 volunteers. The House is founded on the spirit of cooperation and is largely a volunteer operation. Guests are encouraged to assist with general household chores whenever possible. The nominal cost to families staying at the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald house is $5 per night for those able to afford it. However, no one is ever denied access to the House, its security, or its hospitality due to an inability to pay this nominal fee.

Who Uses Our House?

The Inland Empire Ronald McDonald house is open to families of children who are hospitalized and undergoing treatment and/or receiving treatment on an outpatient basis at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and other area hospitals. Priority for overnight stays will be based upon families with the greatest need.

How is Ronald McDonald House Funded?

While locally owned McDonald's restaurants have provided substantial support for the creation of the House and provide some on-going financial support, the bulk of operating funds comes from contributions through individual gifts, special events, corporate donations, memorial gifts and foundation grants.
